appraisal on a orvis fly rod

I have a orvis style "99" 8' 2 pc. weight 4 1/4 oz., very good condition. Has a cloth bag & tube, also written on the pole is orvis impregnated "99".

Hi Kevin,

Orvis made two 8' model 99 rods...one with only one tip section, and one with the traditional two tip sections.  Value depends on which one you have.  If it is a one tip rod, the bag should have only two slots for the rod...if it has three slots, you likely have a two tip rod that is missing a tip section which would greatly reduce the value.

In Very Good condition the value estimate would be...

One tip "99" rod......$350-$450 depending on actual condition of the rod

Two tip "99" rod......$400-$550 depending on actual condition of the rod

In general, the shorter bamboo rods tend to be more valuable.
