Antique Rod with JC Higgins Reel
Question
I have an old square steel rod with a wooden handle. The handle is etched in a diamond-net pattern. The end of the rod is capped with a green knob etched in concentric circles. The rod has 3 eyes near the top. The steel has some rust stains on it. But overall,it is in great condition.
The steel reel is J C Higgins with black Bakelite on each side and a green Bakelite handle. It is in perfect functioning order. There is a stamp on the reel that is either 2767, 2787, 2762, or 2782 110 or 710 (might even be the word 0IL. It is so small, I can barely make it out.
I would like to know more about the rod and reel, their age, the pole manufacturer, and a possible value. I can provide pictures if that would help.

Hare to tell on the rod who actually made it if its not marked - possibly Bristol or True Temper - but they are usually marked . Unfortunately steel rods were inexpensive high volume rods. They sell for $5-20 depending on condition.
JC Higgins is the trade name Sears sold fishing tackle under. The reel is pretty common, $5-15 range.
