Nat Uslan fly fishing rod
Question
Hello,
On 6/5/12 I posted a question to you regarding a Nat Uslan fly fishing rod. 1951 Challenger 9 ft 5 1/2 oz. #10151. We sold the rod, but it was returned as the gentleman said it was not impregnated that it was varnished. How does one tell the difference? You indicated you thought it was impregnated from the info we provided. Thank you and we appreciate all the info you have given us.

Imoprenated rods have been infused with a tar like finish making them heavier. You have to have experience to tell the difference. Not impregnated rods have a shiney finish on the surface and and are much lighter. Your buyer may be wrong, impregnated rods often have a shiney surface - with a 5 1/2 oz it is probably impregnqteed without like 2 oz.
I am in Denver, I would charge you nothing to tell you if it is impregnated. If you are not close , then I charge retiurn postage only.

you are welcome
