Question
QUESTION: i have a sears & roebuck and simpson sears ltd. 61/2 foot fishing pole.reg.#309 30870 61/2 how old is the pole and what is it worth.
ANSWER: Jeff,
It is probably a spin rod (reel above handle ) at that length. If it is not black, probably fiberglass and made in the 1950s. If graphite then 70s or later and resale is basically none. Sears had other makers create their rods. it could be a Heddon or valueless. I would need more details to be more specific.
No more than $50 is my guess.

QUESTION: I checked and it was made by J.C. Higgins and it is a clear fiber glass 61/2 foot sears roebuck rod.
Answer
yep $50 at most
composition is not bamboo Fiberglass is just not collected like bamboo. It was made from the 1950s to the 70s.
I have no specific history or books on fiberglass, I believe they don't exist, but here's two web sites that on fiberglass:
http://fiberglass-fly-rods.pbwiki.com/
http://www.fiberglassflyrodders.info/:
Please be cautious about someone telling you your rod is worth thousands until they offer cash. People want fiberglass to be collectable like bamboo but that doesn't make it so.
And spin / cast rods aren't collected like fly rods so low resale values.
