heddon 103 short special rod
Question
I came across a bundle of old wooden shaft rods and a Heddon 103 2 piece was in it. I am having it restored and was wondering about the value. thanks very much for your time.
Answer
Hi Brent,
You're having it restored? Can't be, I looked and it's not in my shop! Just kidding.
The model 103 short special was made in 1935 and then again from 1939-1946 (except during the war years 1943-1945). If your original wraps were black with red tipping, then the rod was made in 1935. If the original wraps are orange/black Jasper (twisted together) it was made in the latter period.
Value on the rod should be in the excellent range after restoration which means somewhere in the $140-$180 range depending on actual condition.
It should be a nice rod.
Thanks, Joe
