Info on a couple of HEDDON rods?
Question
Hello Joe,
I have two Heddon rods both of which are 2pc. The first one is a dark brown/maroonish color. Each half measures 39 1/2" including a 12" cork handle with two movable aluminum bands for the reel seat. There is a green "label" band just above the cork which says "Heddon Pal T-130-6 1/2 ML"
The second is a light brown/golden color. Each half measures 41 1/8" including the 15 1/2" handle area. The sticker in the reel seat says "Heddon Golden Mark 50". On the rod itself, about four inches above the cork handwritten in cursive are the markings; Heddon Mark "Golden 50" #7646-6'9" Vari Power Action.
ANY information about the age, type or value of these rods would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks -Chris
Answer
Hi Chris,
These are both from the 1955-1965 time period and represent a couple of nice glass rods made by Heddon. I have one of the Golden 50 fly rods in 8 1/2 foot and Mint condition...still has the original price tag on it.
The spinning rod would be valued according to actual condition of the rod. The ranges are:
Poor-Fair.................$10-$25
Good-Very Good............$30-$50
Excellent-Mint............$60-$80
The fly rod would also be valued according to actual condition. The ranges are:
Poor-Fair.................$15-$35
Good-Very Good............$45-$75
Excellent-Mint............$100-$150
Thanks, Joe
