Steel rods
Question
Hi Joe. I have inherited two steel fishing rods. one with red glass eyelets and the other is called game getter and has 3 metal eyelets. Any info on approx. age and worth would be great. Thanks and good fishing.
Answer
Hi Rick,
The one with glass eyelets actually has agate lined guides...not glass. In general, this one would have been more expensive than the other one when new. The collector value for steel rods is not high but there seems to be a lot of people discovering these old rods and how well they fish so we may see some improvement in the coming years.
Typically, one in average condition will be valued in the $15-$25 range and one in excellent condition in the $30-$45 range.
If you haven't used them for fishing yet, you should. You can't hurt them and you will be surprised at how well they fish.
Thanks, Joe
