steelhead
Question
Hope you can help a beginner, live 3 miles up river from mouth, and was wondering if you could tell me when is the right time to fish tide waters.if you need to know the river its the Stillaguamish in WA.one more, how far do steelhead travel in a 24 hour period.and does it have to rain for fish to come in the river or will a high tide do.
Answer
I'm sorry but I have never fished this river or this area before. Normaly what we find up here in Alaska the first 2 or 3 miles of the river can be tidally influenced. We try to get out on these rivers about 2 hours before the high tide and fish until about 2 hours after the tide starts back out. The tides up here are much more severe so you may need to take that into account. I would try to find a fly shop in the area and call them. Most shops are good about answering questions about thier "home" waters.
Good Luck
