fly fishing for gar

any info or resouces on flys available for flyfishing for long nose gar?

Gar Anglers' Sporting Society contributor, Rick Hayden, owner of the Illinois State Spotted Gar Record, suggests white fur bugs, woolly buggers, or divers.  He ties his own fur bug with a Mustad #103366 extralong hook.  He prefers a long-shank, narrow-gap hook.  Gar tend to attack prey mid-body so a short shank hook would often be ahead of the gar.  A narrow gap has a higher hooking percentage.
