reds & snook in the bay near bridges

Question
can I fish for reds and snook at the same time.
Im using 10 lb line w/fluorocarbon leader(line to line).  floating large live shrimp without weight, maybe a splitshot.  Do I throw under the bridge into the current, or stay near the shore
near the mangroves?  Ive had previous success around peers with big reds, using a sliding sinker rig(split-shot holding up larger sinker, say 18 in. above hook.  big sinker lays on the bottom and line can slide through.

Answer
It's hard to imagine any fish turning down a live, down-current drifting shrimp, so that is the way to do it: allow the shrimp to be carried downstream.  You didn't say, but the time to try is in low light or at night, especially if there are lights that shine down from the bridge.  Snook love to hide in the shadows and dart out to grab what looks good to eat.  Although the mangroves produce fish, where the current flows is always the better place.  If the water near the bridge is deep, then dropping the shrimp to the bottom or near it with weight works and a sliding sinker rig is okay, but if the sinker is too heavy it stops the downstream movement of the shrimp and doesn't look natural, even though it does work.  Near the surface certainly free-floating with no weight is the trick.  However, I would not use line as light as 10 lb as snook, in particular, once hooked rush back to the bridge (or mangroves) and can easily break free as the line frays immediately if it drags against a piling or root.
