Fishing plastics.
Question
I have recently tried to fish plastic worms(stick baits not included)on spinning gear weightless. I am now having trouble setting the hook. I was using 10lb. low stretch monofilament with a graphite medium action rod. Hooks tried were 2/0 off set shank worm hook and 3/0,4/0,5/0 ewg hooks. Any suggestions or recommendations.
Answer
Fishing with soft plastics without weight is a tough skill to master. Without weights, it is difficult to keep tension on your line. Your need that tension to feel bites as soon as they occur. Try keeping the slack out of your line by being sure that you can feel your lure at all times. Watch your line closely. Be ready to set the hook if your line shoots one way or the other.
Also, try using a medium light action rod in order to feel the light taps that are associated with weightless lures.
