?Fly fishing on Maui?

I am trying to learn whether/where there is any fly-fishing on Maui, HI -- or even whether there are any opportunities to fish a freshwater pond with lures from the banks?  I am traveling there in April with my 8 year-old son who would greatly enjoy this (he's not up for deep-sea fishing or anything too physically challenging in terms of reaching a fishing spot).  Thanks for any info!

   I am so sorry to tell you that there are not any freshwater fishing on Maui. However, there are one each of the other main islands. On Oahu, there is Nuuanu Freshwater Fish Refuge, I think that place has lottery drawings 3 times a year. Next on Oahu there is Wahiauia Public Fishing Area. On Kaua'i there is Kokee Public Fishing Area. And finally on the Big Island of Hawai'i there is the Waiakea Public Fishing Area, near the Wailoa River State Park. Now I personnaly have bever fished at any of these, I have heard about the one on the big island. I have not been freshwater fishing in years. I grew up in Florida fishing both Freshwater & Saltwater, but the last 20 odd years have all been in the deep ocean.
 Mrs. Greer, I do not know how difficultly challenged your son is, but I tell you what, if you were to take him out on a big fishing boat for a half day of fishing, even if he did not catch anything, just being out there would really probably give him a thrill. If you are really possibly interested in doing something llike this for him, let me know. I am in New York City right now & unfortunatley I will be for some time. But I have friends that I am close with & I could hook you up with something really reasonable I am sure, depends on the timing...I don't know when you plan on being there & for how long, etc...
