catfish in rivers
Question
what would be the best method of catching catfish in rivers at night this time of year?
Answer
I fish the same way no matter what time of the year it is. In a river you want to use a bottom rig. It will depend on how swift the current is as to how big of a sinker you'll need, but a 3/4-1 ounce is a good starting place. I run a 3-4 foot leader onto a swivel and then put the egg sinker on my main line and tie the other end of the swivel to the main line..sort of like a carolina rig. I'd use live creek chubs, or shad would work as well. Hook them through the lips or tail. Also try nightcrawlers. Find a slow spot in the river or any kind of eddies, thats where id try to fish. Also this time of year, i'd also look around deep bluffs. Generally, you want to work the inside bend of the river and back behind (below) that inside bend.
