aspiring pro angler

Question
my future goal is to become an angler on the professional circuits. do you have any suggested books i should read or if there are any college classes that i can take to help me gain more knowlege about bass habits?

Answer
Tim,
There are countless great books out there covering bass fishing.  Some of these include:  The Bass Angler's Almanac: More Than 650 Tips and Tactics  by John Weiss...  Largemouth Bass:  an In-Fisherman Handbook of Strategies by the In-Fisherman staff...  Bassing Bible:  Ultimate Bass Fishing Reference Guide by Keith Sutton...  Knowing Bass: The Scientific Approach to Catching More Fish by Keith A. Jones...  and  An Angler's Guide to Bass Patterns by Larry Larsen.  All of these books offer a little something different.  Another good book covering all of the basics is Largemouth Bass by Don Oster.
Classes in Fishery Biology and more specifically - ichthyology are a good but very time consuming way of learning about bass behaviors.  Moreover, these classes cover more general information about all freshwater fish rather that keying in on bass.
Try researching with books and praticing with the tips that you learn.  Once you think you've reached a decent level, try entering in a pro-am tournament where you are matched up with a pro.  Once you're in a boat with a pro, money is on the line and they will hold back no secrets.

I hope this helps.  If not, please feel free to ask again.

Good Fishing!
