tips about snook fishing
Question
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am 15 and i live on the southern east part of florida by miami. I fish everytime i get the chance to fish and i have become very knowledgeable in fishing for multiple species of fish, but it has been almost 8 years since i have gone fishing for Snook. I am going to sanibell island by the end of this month which is on the southwest of florida. I am going there to fish escpecially for Snook. Last time i was there i was 7 and i caught a couple snook that wieghed about 10 to 15 pounds on some shrimp. I was fishing right at the beach where my hotel was located. I just wanted to know if you had any tips for me that might be helpful for me to excell in becoming a better fisherman and catch more snook when i go over to sanibell island the end of this month.
Thank you very much for your time
Jacob
Answer
Hi Jacob;
I am really sorry but I cannot give you any specifics about snook since I do not fish for that species. But I can give some very good advice on becoming a better fisherman. Simply put, just keep doing what you are doing now, asking questions. Talk to people when they are fishing, talk to bait and tackle shop proprieters, talk to anyone who might be able to give you help. Read anything and everything on the topic. If you ask politely, any good fisherman would most likely be willing to share what he or she knows. The best thing about free advice is that you do not have to follow it. If it seems reasonable, of course, give it a try. If on the other hand it seems ridiculous, then just ignore it. You obviously have the interest, and that alone will make you a better fisherman. I cannot count how many people I have fished with who never ask questions and never really progress in their skills. These are the guys who are always complaining about there being no fish around, while others are catching.
