Fire wire

Question
How do I know if my rod and reel can handle fire wire.  My understanding is that not all rods and reels can use fire wire.

Answer
While I am not the best person to answer such a question becase I have little experience using this kind of line, I will say that most rods and reels of good quality made today likely will be able to handle these lines.  Probobly older rods and reels might be damaged by using a line that is too strong for the combo.  For example if one puts, say, a 70# line on an older outfit and then applies the 70# to the rod it is likely to break and the reel bearings pulled out of line.

Probably the best way to find out is to contact the manufacturer of the rod and reel and ask them.  You may be able to do this online if you can get the e-mail address or go to "contact us" on their site.

I doubt that many of us older fishermen are completely up to date on this subject.
I,for instance, have only tried one of these new lines on one outfit and then uded it very little.  I still use the old fashioned monofiliment even though I am sure the new lines are superior in many ways I just haven't really made the change.

I am sorry I can't give you a more difinitive answer.
