fishing for trout
Question
I was talking to a friend about different fishing technique and i was saying i have heard of trout fishing on the river bank with a mouse. not in water but very close to it. and the trout would come out and get it. he thinks i am crazy and has never heard of it. i would love to prove him wrong. I just cant think of where i heard it. have you ever heard of this ?
Answer
I have not heard of this either, although I have heard of a method of fly fishing where the fly never touches the water and the fish jumps up to catch the fly in mid air. Could be that there is a mouse type pattern that is used to do that. I believe it was featured in a Movie .. maybe "A River Runs Through It" ..
OR it could be the word mouse is in the name of the pattern.
The method I am thinking of does not include the fish coming up on the bank. I do not know of any Native Trout that will come out on the bank and risk harm to their slime coat and being eaten to catch a mouse.
On the other hand I may just not be as well read as you.
