Freshwater tubing/fly fishing
Question
What kind of waders do you wear when float tubing?
Neoprene is what I was guessing for warmth but not sure. Chest or Hip? I was given a float tube for Christmas but no waders and need to purchase some and need an idea what to practice with in the cold Canadian waters.
Thank you kindly!
Jamie
Answer
We do not do much tubing in Southern Southeast Alaska. Creeks are small and fly fishing done with waders. You could tube at an inlet to saltwater but it is not my reccomendation because of safety. Once in a while on a fly-in trip to a wilderness lake you could tube and cast at the inlet areas.
Warmer is better, felt insoles should be considered when looking at a pair of waders. Water temperature here is in the 45-55 degree range and non-skid wader soles a must. Best wishes Johny Gilson (Be safe!!)
what type of reel an rod combo and how many should you have on your boat?
