copolymer fishing line
Question
Would you tell me if it is appropriate to put copolymer line on both spinning & baitcasting reels?
Thanks
bob
Answer
Hi Bob,
Sorry it has taken longer than expected to get back in touch, but things have been crazy on this end.
As for your line, yes, it is appropriate to use copolymer lines on all types of reels. However, I like using different lines for certain lures and techniques.
I'm probably one of the few that uses braided line on spinning - ultra-light no less. I like 10 or 15 pound test Gorilla Braid. This has a very low diameter, more strength for getting small jigs loose, or setting the hook on bass with finesse worms, and less bird nests.
Otherwise, on light spinning I use Magna Thin.
On casting I use braided for heavy cover, especially flipping/pitching with jigs, tubes and worms. On the same line of thought, I use Big Game Flippin' line for a couple of my pitching applications.
For spinnerbaits on my 5'6" casting rigs, I use Easy Cast, and the same, but in 10 pound test for my 6'6" Ultra Cast outfit for crankbaits.
Hope this hasn't been too confusing.
If you have any further questions on this, or other matters, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best of fishing,
Dan
