setting on baitcaster
Question
what should i set my baitcaster real on?
Answer
Hi Joseph,
There are different settings on baitcasting reels. Some have only brakes, some have both brakes and magnetic adjustments, while one has the two combined.
I would suggest to first adjust the brake adjustment so that the lure will not fall to the ground when it is wound up to the tip. The slowly back off until you have to shake the lure to get to go down slowly. This will set it for fewer backlashes, especially if you are just starting out.
If the reel also has a magnetic adjustment set it up to a higher level, and eventually back off as you have more control of backlashes.
As time goes along you should be able to use a lot less of the magnets, and adjust the brakes so that your thumb, riding on the line surface will do most of the work.
Hope this has helped.
