QuestionRich - Hi my name is Chuck and recently when moving my mom out of her home after 40 years I came across two fly rods. One in a wooden case and the other is not. I would like to try to describe these as best as possible and hope you could give some advice on the value and or possible buyers. The rod in the case is in new condition. It appers to be a "Mayflower" 5 piece high class split bamboo fly rod. In the case with flys, hooks and eye loop wrap. I think it is possibly something brought from over seas during the war. The writing on the outside has a name and "U.S." with some numbers after it. The rod appears to have three different tips and a two piece base. The other rod is a "Wright & McGill" Dandy 8ft maybe fiber glass? in fair condition missing three eye loops. I know these were both my dad's and are probably from the 50's or 60's and maybe earlier. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chuck

You are about the third person to ask the question about the rod in the wooden box, at this site. The rod in the box probably came from Japan - best guess without pictures. They were trinkets and have no collecting or fishing value.
Does the Wright & McGill have round or flat sides ? Round means fiber glass , flat means bamboo.
I only give general value without seeing the rods.
I do recommend you search ebay with those rod model and maker names and see what if anything you can find.
"three eye loops" by the way can't be even fair condition but is poor - on a bamboo rod it usually means that the rod needs to be restored to be of any resale value.
If you search earlier answers you can get the names of books you can find at the library I have recommended before or you need to send me ppcitures . But the rod in
the wooden box is not in any book.
