Question
when i go fishing in deep rivers with trees covering the banks i can not get my float to set deep enough without catching my spare line on the trees. How can i make it so i can tye my float on so it slides so far up the line when in the water for the right depth but so i onli have a little bit of line to cast with so i do not catch it on the trees behind please help me i can not think of a way to help myself
Answer
Alex,
One way to avoid the problem you have mentioned is by using a slip float. This has a stopper that allows the time to be set at a depth, but wound all the way up to the float before casting.
A place you may want to check out on float fishing is www.mickthill.com. Mick Thill is a world champion angler, who does all of his fishing with floats. He is a good friend of mine, and will help answer any question on floats, if he is able to get through all of the emails he receives. He has fished floats all over the world, and is the captain of Team USA. He also has videos on the subject.
Hope this helps, and if you have any further questions on this or other fishing subjects please feel free to get in touch.
Best of fishing,
Dan
