redfish
Question
What would be refered to as an older, wiser redfish?
Answer
Hi Ericka,
An older, wiser redfish (or any other kind of fish) usually refers to a fish that, being larger than others of the same kind, got that way because it is truly both older and wiser. If you agree that fish have some intelligence, then it makes sense that the smarter a fish is the more successful it will be in eluding predators anxious to eat it. Given the fact that in every population of fish some must be slightly different in terms of certain characteristics (as in redfish the spots: how many, where located, etc.), one can say that there are slight differences in intelligence. If true, then those with that slight edge could very well be the ones that live long and grow large. Boris
