fishing hooks and the best bait

hi :how the determine the size of the hook i mean when you chose a hook size 1 for example is size 1 more big than size 2 or size 3 more big than 2 and so on or it is the other way around becasue i saw in some stores size 4 hooks and it was small but when i order it online i recicved a size 4 hook totaly different from the one i saw and to much big.
what is the best way to fish carp.

All hooks come in a variety of sizes and are indicated by number. The smaller the number, the larger the hook. For example a size 2 hook is larger than a size 8. Purchasing hooks is similar to buying cars; people tend to go with ones they are familiar with and ones they have confidence in.
For Carp fishing you can use a 4 or 6 without any problem.
You want to be certain that you are using FRESH WATER HOOKS
Walmart has a nice selection of hooks, and you can get what you want right there and not worry about internet confusion!

A 6/0 hook is the largest, a 13 is the smallest, what probably happened was you saw a size 4 hook and ordered a 4/0 off the internet.
The best bait to use for CARP would simply be corn, on what is referred to as a "HAIR RIG"placing the rod on a fork stick or rod holder, with a bery loose drag, or the bail totally open, Carp are know for notorious strikes, and many a rod and reel have been pulled in , never to be seen again !
