tarpon in rye river manatee county

Question
I went fishing in the rye river a couple weekends ago way up in the rye river catfishing, I usually fish saltwater, but it was windy. Anyway Could have sworn i had seen juvi tarpons everywhere, unfortunately the water was dirty,but I have seen juvi tarpon role before it looked just like it. I only had worms and a ratty shallow runner, I hooked two, lost both fish before i could check it out well due to rusty hooks. Is this possible, or was this another type of fish?

I live in the Pacific Northwest and there are no tarpon in this area. I'm guessing that you are in the Florida area and I know there are tarpon there. As to whether or not you saw tarpon, it's possible but without seeing the fish I can't say what you saw. You say that you've seen juvi tarpon before so you would have a better idea then I would as to what you saw.
