QuestionMy husband and I live in the Galveston, Texas area. Can you recommend a reliable fishing guide that would take my husband and I out for the day and do you recommend private fishing guides over "party boat" fishing?
AnswerI have fished from party boats, and with guides both. They are different experiences. Party boats are for large groups. IF you are looking to have an inexpensive day on the water fishing this is a good way to go. You will get less time with the crew, as opposed to a charter. IF you are decent to good fisherman this is not a problem. If you are a novice who does not understand the equipment or how to use it this is not good.
Also on party boats fishing can be hit or miss with one side of the boat catching fish the other side dry. With a charter you are more likely in my opinion to catch fish.
Party boats tend to fish for only specific kinds of fish while charters fish for many different species. IF you are after a specific species you may not be able to catch that on a party boat.. IE.. Tarpon, Billfish, etc.
