QuestionHello, I have my dad's old fishing rod. It is in a silver metal tube approx: 36" long. on one end of the tube says "James Heddon's Sons, Dowagiac, Mich." The rod is wrapped in a green pouch with two tie ends. There is a label on the pouch that says "Heddon Tempered Bamboo Split Not Sawed A Genuine Dowagiac". The rod is two pieces. And then there is a third piece, a curved metal piece that attaches to the rod by two screws in the rod. Above the cork on the rod says "No.10" When the rod is together it is approx: 5'9" long. Could you help me to identify this rod? Thank you for your help, Dave
AnswerDave,
Heddon made 4 ,# 10 models (bamboo fishing rods) from 1935 to 1955. All were fly rods ( handle above the reel seat) They were:
"featherweight" 71/2 feet 2 pieces 2 tips
8 foot trout, 3 sections 2 tips
9 foot heavy trout rod , 3 sections 2 tips
salmon 9 feet 3 sections 2 tips
I don't get a visual image of "...then there is a third piece, a curved metal piece that attaches to the rod by two screws in the rod." pictures might help (
