suspended fish ??
Question
I was bass fishing the creek here in Moundsville, West Virginia and was using a Mepps #4 spinner and had crappie and Walleye hitting this lure but what I experienced was all the fish in the creek from one bank to the other the fish were schooled and suspended about 6" underwater and if I thru a lure across them they would move???? Why were all these fish from pike to carp suspended that evening and for over a mile up the creek ???
Answer
Well if you can see them, they can see you.. that would be the reason for them moving. You are something unfamiliar to them. Try wearing camo if you are fishing a stream that has a lot of trees and growth close to the stream.. IF a wide open stream try light blue.. to match the sky.
As for why they were suspended at 6" there could be several reasons. Moon and sun influences are believed to determine the heaviest fishing times. May have been the fact that the sun and moon were in the right place and the fish were all waiting to feed. COULD also have been a localized hatch of insects, or some other factor like temperature that caused them to hold at that depth.
