QuestionDear, Mrs.Kelly Johnson I have doing catfishing for 10 years now and i hardly ever catch the really big ones out of the lake.but my question is do you know any top secret baits to catch the big one's out of the lake. p.s. the lake has nothing but farmed rasied catfish in it.

Well, as always with these questions, it helps to know the details of the lake, temp, location, depth, clarity, etc. There are so many different baits to use for catfish, it's just a matter of finding one that works best. I would take at least 3 different baits with me everyday, fish will change preferences everyday, and even hour to hour.
There are a lot of baits for sale at any sporting goods section of a retail store. For example, walmart will probably have tens of different baits that will work. The key to finding a good bait for catfish is to start with things that stink... bad.
The "go to" bait for me would be worms, an old but proven stand by. Try a size 4 hook with a whole nightcrawler on it. Worms have long been the most effective bait for catfish in my area. If you don't get bites quickly with that, add some different scents, crawfish, shrimp, anything might work.
Next I would try chicken livers. Find the freshest ones, they'll stay on the hook the longest. Use treble hooks (if legal on your lake). Tie a very small snap swivel onto your leader, then push the liver on the hook over the eye, and clip the eye onto the snap, this way the liver stays on in one piece.
In addition to those two baits, also bring a bag of powerbait brand catfish nuggets. I wouldn't think they would work better than the first two options, but who knows, it just might be what they fish want on a particular day.
