fall fishing
Question
My name is Keith I am a 14 year old bass fisherman who lives in Maryland and I want to know where all the bass go during the fall month's like September, October, and November. I also would like to know what there eating habit is like in the fall. Thanks.
Answer
Keith they really do not go anywhere, they just go deeper. The fish will find the warmest water with the best oxygen. For the most part they do not need to eat a LOT, but will eat if the opportunity presents itself. Smallmouth will hold in about 15 feet of water to 10 feet in the fall when temps get down to 52 degrees or lower. We use the Float and fly method to catch the fish at that time of year. Check out www.FloatandFly.com or look for articles by Stephen Headrick on Bass fishing.. better yet you may one day catch him at your local BPS.
