QuestionHi, I have an old rod I inherited from my Dad who may have gotten it from my great uncle. It is a 3 piece, 9' cane rod with an extra tip. There are no manufacturers markings on it. It has a patent date of April 2 07 on the reel seat which is a down locking sliding ring design. I believe the grip to be sheet cork. The ring on the upper end of the cap has a patent date of Jan 22 907. The rod has green thread wraps every inch with some red decorative wraps mixed in. The butt appears to have hole possibly for optional fighting butt attachment. The guide on tip is agate and intermediaries are snake guides. The rod came in a medium brown cloth case w a dark brown tie. There is an olive velour covered tube grooved to hold the sections with metal caps and matching ties. I would rate the rod as in poor condition, it has the original tip on one section, is missing many intermediate thread wraps and intermediate guides have obviously been replaced.
I know my great uncle fished for landlocked salmon and brook trout in Rangely and some of the other big New England lakes. I'm interested in having a friend restore the rod so I can fish with it but want to make sure it is not a rare rod before I do. I have photos I can fwd.

My best guess is that it is not rare sheet cork is cheap ,but I lack details to be sure.
