Horrocks-Ibbotson rod - Chesapeake
Question
I have two of the above rods, they both are inscribed with the word Chesapeake. I found a website with Horrocks Ibbotson info but there was no mention of the Chesapeake version. Can you tell me the age and any idea of a value? Thank you. I am helping my 101 year old grandpa clean out the basement and these were his and my grandmothers. Thank you very much for your prompt attention. I'd love to sell to an appreciative sportsman. Sue
Answer
Hi Sue,
H-I made a ton of rods up to the 1930's. I'm guessing that it is probably 80-90 years old.
As far as what they are worth, thats a crap-shoot. The books probably list them at $100-$200 but the real story is probably what they are selling for on e-bay. In fact, there is one on there right now if you want to watch it.

They make a great wall display if you have a room with a sporting motif.
