Question
hi, i have a pole that is either copper plated or copper tubeing, it has no markings of any kind on it. just wondering if you could stear me in the right direction to ident. it? it has a cork handle with sliding rings for the reel. i beleive it is a bait caster? but could be a fly pole. thanks mark
Answer
Hi Mark,
I'm not really the old fishing stuff expert. But I know that these steel rods are usually from the 1890's through the 1920's and 1930's.
If it really is copper I think it is more rare than the typical steel stuff that seem to be pretty common. If you watch e-Bay they go for $15-$25 and many don't ever get a bid because they just aren't sought after by collectors.
You may have something more rare, but I honestly have never seen a copper one.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Marc
