fishing fast moving waters
Question
QUESTION: I live in Idaho, where there are alot of fast moving rivers and creeks, where do you fish on the banks? i mean where do fish hide?
ANSWER: Fish in fast moving rivers will hold in shallow areas along the bank, the shallower the water the slower it is along the bank.. behind rocks in slack water, and in pool areas where the water appears to be moving but is very deep and does not move as fast as the rest of the river. Also look at areas like feeder creeks where water has created a bowl that is deep at the end of the creek. The water there will be deep and slower as well. ( The bowl will create a situation where the bottom is deeper than the incoming water. The water passes OVER the bowl and the fish stay near the bottom out of direct current. Look for ambush points like logs or undercut banks where fish can hide from predators as well as feed.

QUESTION: Gret answer, thank you, now what lure or live baite would you use this time of year?
Answer
Well that is one question I am not sure about answering. It depends on what you are fishing for. In Idaho I am guessing trout.. In which case I would go to the local tackle store or fly fishing shop and ask them what is hatching now as far as insects. Normally you have to match the hatch. IF you are fishing for other fish, like catfish, I would suggest live minnows or even cut bait drifted near the bottom. I know you have a lot of cold water up there.. and since this is fast flowing my guess is that you are fishing mountain streams or the main rivers. In that case trout, and some predator species like pike might be available but again I am not familiar with all species in Idaho.
