QuestionI am beginning to make hand split bamboo rods. (right, another one)I noticed that Beaverhead Rods uses graphite ferrules as a way to seamlessly transfer the flex and power between sections. Are graphite ferrules available? I have searched without any success. Thanks, Rod Bauer
AnswerRod,
I'd swear you asked me this before.
I don't know of anyone using graphite ferrules. I have seen bamboo and wooden ferrules. I've seen no ferrules rods . In fact that is the way there were made over 100 years ago.
Have you asked Beaverhead how he makes them ? try
[email protected] email
I can visualize them made from old pieces of graphite sections ( I clean rivers as I fish and have picked up several for patches. )
Do you know about rodmakers ? an online community - email list of rodmakers find them at :http://www.canerod.com/rodmakers/index.html
I just use NS ferrules but ask rodmakers and they might have some specifics.
Good Luck
