bearings on a fishing reel

what do the bearings on the fishing reel do. do you want a high or low number of bearings. Please can you help me out. thank you

Here is the answer I provided previously...
Bearings are important. However the quality of the bearings is important as well. My personal experience is that anything over 6 bearings is pretty much a manufacturer trying to sell something for more than it is worth. The 6 bearing reels are smoother than the 4 bearing reels. HOwever I buy reels with 4 bearings. I just do not get any longer use out of them and performance at my skill level is not any better. Most reels will have even numbers of bearings. Two, Four, or Six is normal more may be better but in the end past 6 is for the guy who fishes every day of the year.
