Wright&McGill Granger Aristocrat
Question
Rich,
I saw your answer to another gentleman who found a fly rod inherited from his father I also came into possession of the same type of rod it is a two piece 7' rod with the butt end being 42 1/2" and two tips each measuring 42 1/2" long. Nothing appears to be broken and it also came in an aluminum tube with no markings that I can find. The butt end shows Wright & McGill and Granger Aristocrat reading away from the cork handle and on the reel holder it has the company name plus a date that is either the manufacture date or a patent date of 1938. Would appreciate any other info you can supply. Thank You, Jim Schneider
Answer
Jim,
Wright McGill Granger Aristocrat are nice rods and collected by many. Shorter rods such as yours with the 2nd tip section and being 2 piece are even more sought after.
Please do not quote me for prices, Please. Can I say please again ? I am getting the prices from Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997. You can probably find it in your local library. The 7 ft model Aristocrat has an extra tip valued at $175, 450 and $775 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively.
I take and sell rods on commission.
Good Luck
