Best way to sell
Question
On the question you just answered. What is the best way to sell these rods. Also the Fenwick has no number starting with FF but it has written "Feather Weight" on the heal of the rod.
Answer
Hi Bill, I'm afraid I won't be much help on the Fenwick. I don't have any reference books that discuss Fenwick rods in any detail. As for selling the rods, I would think your best chance is selling to an individual. Placing an ad in the newspaper or contacting a local fly fishing club or placing the rods on consignment in a local sporting goods or antique store would be ways to meet an interested buyer. The older production rods, like yours, don't typically bring high prices in online auctions but this might be a method you could use if your goal is simply to sell them.
You will need to be willing to negotiate a bit when you find a buyer. The published value guides I refer to are usually an average of a number of sales of similar models and an average of rod conditions. Each rod and its own unique condition will be assessed by the buyer before an offer is made. If the condition of your rods suits the potential buyer, you will be able to negotiate a better price than if the buyer considers the rods to be in "typical" conditon for each model and vintage.
I hope this helps rather than confuses things more. Joe
