Electric fish gates
Question
Are the electric fish gates installed several years ago still active? If they are do you think they affect the bass fishing in these pnds?
Answer
This is only a conjecture but when electric fish gates are installed they tend to prevent the movement of fish either way in the water. Therefore, I would expect that they would somewhat isolate the waters upstream from the gates making the upper ponds dependant on the fish population and reproduction in that pond. Whether this would be harmful to the fishing would depend on just how productive those ponds might be.
If you are speaking of Cyprus pond and the upper Fish Pond drain here on Seminole I believe the gates are still active. Since these ponds are relatively shallow I would guess that the fish population is somewhat limited. This is, of course, just guesswork on my part since I am not a fisheries biologist. If you really want to know for sure contact the Fish and Game department.
Thanks for calling on me to answer your question even though I am not an expert in this sort of thing I did the best I could. I still would suggest asking the Fish and Game department.
