QuestionI have a vintage fishing rod in four sections (2 tips I believe). Each section approx 35" long. The line holders are wrapped in green with black border. The first section (with the cork) has what looks like brown plastic? and chrome or stainless steel. The joiners for the sections are also that metal. There is a marking which says "impregnated tonkin cane" follwed by white handwritten #60-6651. I have the cloth case it comes in with four sections (l for each piece) and that is kakhi colored with black ties. Everything was in a long black heavy cardboard cylinder with metal screw top. All are in excellent condition. Some hook marks in cork is all I can see which is detrimental. Can you tell me anything of age? make? value? I am 68 yr old woman and have NO IDEA of this item. Thank you very much. Carol Santacroce
AnswerCarol,
Orvis is my first thought but they usually have white model names as well as "impregnated tonkin cane" and white serial numbers.

Orvis doesn't evaluate rods but recommends two guys :

Please let me know what the results if you use one of these two guys.
I used the Orvis database , Orvis Bamboo Rod Production ~ 1940 to 2008: A Collector's Reference Copyright 2003-2008 James Gregory Reynolds

According to thee database you have 6651 7/8/48 Impregnated Spinning - 15/64 ferrules 7 - 2 Built by Cal Skinner . I would need to see it to confirm . Looks like it was built in 1948 but it is not a fly rod and not worth much . Describe the reel seat as above or below the cork handle to confirm.
Good Luck
