chip in my reel

hey marc,
hey i was outside doing some dryland casting. when i maid a cast my reel fell right out of my rod holding.when i picked it up off the cement it had a chip in it. the chip does not effect the reel workings but i would still like to get the chip out. Ant suggestions wold be great.

Hi Dan,
It sounds like an actual chunk of the reel broke off the housing somewhere? Not just a dent, I take it?
If so, the only problem I see right now is that there is a hole into the interworking of the reel. This could allow dirt and water to get into the reel and that is not going to be good. It may also let the lubricants out.
Without seeing the hole, Is there a way to close up the opening?
I piece of sturdy tape like duct tape or electrical tape would be a temporary fix.
Better yet would be a patch with something like epoxy or auto body Bondo.
Other than that, the reels should still work fine if nothing else cracked.
