west virginia fishing
Question
We are planning a fishing trip to West Virginia. We have a boat that is registered in Ohio. Do we need any other registration to fish in West Virginia with this boat?
Answer
Hi Cindy,
Because this is a legal matter, I recommend that you check with the WV Department of natural resources.
That said, I have never heard of any additional registration needed in any state. You only need to register it in the state in which you live. The same as a car license.
You and your party will need local non-resident fishing licenses for WV. You can purchase them when you arrive, or many states allow you to order on-line now.
Again, I am 99.9% sure that you don't need anything additional for your boat, but double check with the WV DNR. Obviously, you will need to follow their regulations for boating and boating safety. That information too will be available on their website.
