QuestionI have a fly rod with no identification to be found on it. I have no photos, but the rod is just 57" long and obviously of split cane/bamboo. It has three line guides between the handle and tip, the center one with a red insert. The handle is not cork, but wood. 3 inches in length, starting 2-1/4" from the end. The reel mount has no threads. It is smooth plated metal, about 3/4" diameter for the first 1-3/8" enlarging to about 7/8". The hex-shape shaft tapers from 1/2" at handle to 3/16" at tip. The reinforcing thread at handle, tip, line guides and between is rainbow colors. Again, no names/logos and short. Any ideas?
Thanks
AnswerJoe,
Fly or casting ?
Rainbow sounds like very modern thread. Does it have a tip top (guide at the end)? How many sides? Does it have a cork check - piece of metal above the handle ? Other than guides does it have metal ? What kind of metal ? Chrome plated brass or nickel silver says allot abut a rod. I would guess Japanese especially if the metal looks like aluminum. I could tell you if you ever get pictures to
