Question While cleaning out an old garage I came across a one piece 7' 4" copper rod. At least I think its copper. It shines up real nice. I cannot find a manufacture or name of any kind on it. It has a rubber knob on the but of the rod. It feels real good and thought about putting an old Penn 209 levelwind on it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Harley

AnswerThere were rods made of hollow and solid steel, and hollow copper. Without a maker it would be tough to provide more information. But its probably pre WWII. I am assuming based on the reel you mentioned its a bait casting rod. If you sent photos of the guides I could tell if its real early.
Usually they are segmented or telescoping, so yours might be homemade.
Price wise, the high value rods are American custom made bamboo rods. Bait casting rods dont seem to command as much interest. Copper does better than steel in value.
