How to set the reel to retract the line?

Hi Joe, and thanks for your question.I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but I'll start with explaining how to put line on the reel and maybe that will answer your question.
First, place the spool of line on the floor, label side up. Pull the end of the line up and run it through all the guides, and making sure the bail is open on the reel, tie it to the spool. Then, what I do is, run the line through the middle of a phone book you've placed on a chair or table (this gives it tension when you reel it) and reel it in. If you have it tied to the spool tightly and have closed the bail it should wind in when you turn the handle. If it is tied tightly but will not wind the line try tightening the drag until it will.
