James Heddon and sons fly rod

Question
A friend came to me with a vintage pole and was hoping you could help value it for me. It is a James Heddon and sons bamboo(?) 8 1/2' fly rod (Black Beauty) in its original cloth and steel tube. It is a light #2 from michigan. The reel that was with it is a shakespeare auto 1822 FF. It has three sections and 2 diffrent tops (or tips). It looks like its in excellent shape.

Answer
Wesley,
First my answer is assuming you have a bamboo rod. It would have flat not rounded sides.
The  8 1/2  feet is  3 sections with 2 tips .
I can't tell you the value  of your rod without condition. and  I do condition only in person. I am in Denver and charge nothing for estimates. However I can tell you what my book has for prices (Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997) Please do not quote me!

Rod                                  Poor-fair    good-vg   ex-mint

#17 "Black Beauty" fly rod  8 1/2       75         165       300
Most people over rate the conditions of their rods and are disappointed at the actual price they can get for them. If you don't have 2 tips or any part of the rod is missing it is in poor condition.

I do not understand "It is a light #2 from michigan"
The Shakespeare auto 1822 FF (Automatic , The OK) values at 3,6 and 12 for Poor-fair, good-vg and ex-mint, respectively.
Good Luck
