Brim - Bass
Question
Is there such a fish that looks like a Brim with a Large Mouth like Bass.
Answer
Hi Tom,
This is a bit out of my area of expertise. However, I believe that largemouth bass are members of the sunfish family which also includes other fish that we collectively call bream like some bluegill, crappie, pumpkinseed and perch. If I am correct in this, then there are likely other members of the sunfish family that do resemble the bass. It is also possible for hybrid fish to develop in the wild between similar species.
I should stop now because I really don't have much expertise in the area, but you might want to do some searching on the internet or at your local library on the various families of fish in fresh water.
Most of my life, the term bream has been applied to varieties of fish that are similar to bluegill. Perch is another sort of generic term for such fish, although I believe the true perch is a different looking fish that is somewhat more like a bass in appearance.
Thanks, Joe
