Question
eagle claw rod
I have a never used eagle claw granger ocean spinning rod. model No. GO 200 - 8 1/2 ft.Wright & McGill Co.Can you tell me what it is worth?
AnswerHello
Some history
Goodwin Granger made custom split bamboo flyrods until just after WWII.
Wright & McGill was founded in 1920s, decided to improve their fishing rod line by leasing the Goodwin Granger company in 1946.
Wright & McGill changed over from bamboo to fiberglass over time. So the name on the rod references back to the older company.
Eagle Claw is a brand name of W&G, first attibuted to their unique hook design.
The prime collector interest is in American custom made flyrods, like the original Goodwin Granger rods and Wright & McGill rods.
There is less interest in spinning, bait casting, trolling rods.
I would estimate your rods value at $30-40. At auction could go lower or a little higher. But these are great fishing rods so I would use it to fish.
Also the collectors market is depressed right now with the economy....
Hope this helps
