hardy rod,reels tackle
Question
QUESTION: I have an old,1925 Hardy Salmon rod. It has three parts, each being 4 feet long with an interchangable four foot tip. Beautiful little wood dowel, plugs. original bag and leather rod tube, immaculate yet used condition.
Also Reel, Hardy, same vintage, no size stamp but measures 9cm diameter and associated flies in their little tin boxes...any idea of vale I could provide photos if that would help
thanks
ANSWER: Hi Paul,
I will need a little more information if it is available. If you could answer the following questions it will help.
1. Is there a model name written on the rod. There is a Salmon Deluxe model referenced in my book.
2. Does the reel have anything stamped into it that would indicate model name or numbers? Perfect, St John, Uniqua, Fortuna...anything like that?
3. Are there any other markings or writing on either the rod or the reel or the bag or the tube?
Thanks for the information.
Joe

Answer
Hi Paul,
Thank you for the added information. This helps.
The Hardy Gold Medal Salmon rod in good condition to very good condition is listed in my reference book with a value in the $150-$250.00 range depending on actual condition and with the original bag, tube, plugs, etc.
The Hardy Perfect Fly reel, Duplicated Mark II, is probably worth more than the rod. The Mark II is listed in three sizes:
2-7/8 to 3-1/8 inch in good condition $250.00 or so.
3-3/8 and larger in good condition $200.00 or so.
wide spool Salmon reel in good condition $290.00 or so.
Depending on spool size, it looks like yours will fit into the second or third category.
The Perfect, Mark II Duplicated was made from 1928-1955
Thanks, Joe
