Hey
Question
QUESTION: Ok, I want to go fishing at a really large pond today and it's pouring outside. I don't really care for the rain, I just want to know what lures and what color to use. I mean fish would bite in rain, right?
ANSWER: Hi Maartin,
It's probably too late to answer but I will anyway.
Rain is fine in fact I'll take a little rain over clear skies any day. When it rains for several days in a row, fishing can get slow.
As far as picking lures, it's almost impossible to do that without knowing more about the lake and what you are fishing for. Weedy or sand or hard bottom?, Shallow or deep? Murky or clear? What is the forage base? Are you fishing for Bass, Pike, bluegills, crappie?
As for colors, generally bright lures on bright days and dark lures on dark days. In murky lakes brighter colors and in clear lakes more natural looking colors.
In general, I use smaller lures in ponds.
Good luck,
Marc

QUESTION: Well, it's for large-mouth bass and there is some weeds on the bottom.
Answer
Hi Maartin,
For Bass in somewhat weedy conditions, it's hard to beat a 3/8th ounce spinnerbait or Chatterbait. Weedless spoons like a Johnson Silver minnow are always good. And, when all else fails, a 4" Senko type worm rigged Wacky style (hook in middle) will catch bass anytime, anywhere.
Good Fishing!
